10.10.05 • Hello from Charlottesville, VA

We are finally feeling like the tour is on its way.  It began with a slow grinding of the gears because, after the extensive promotion tour of radio station visits and showcases here and there, airports and hotels and tons and tons of talking, our health was really suffering. Chris, who had been having to sing through and over a bad cough for weeks, finally blew out his voice during the last song of our final promo show.  The following night we played on Conan's show and he got through it on pure adrenalin.

After NYC, we went to Nashville to begin rehearsing over a sound system with our crew which has many new members! It's all very exciting.  Everyone is very cool and extreme good at what they do.

In Nashville Chris went to the voice doctor and he told Chris that he shouldn't sing, talk or laugh for two weeks. But if he must do shows, he asked Chris to not say a word while off stage, and to only sing one song at soundcheck. He can drink no coffee and no alcohol. Poor guy. He's being very good.

I was not feeling well at all during those days in Nashville, and on the drive up to Burlington, VT for the first show, I got really ill.  And slept through most of the 1,100 mile drive. And was pretty sure that I was never going to be well again but I went to the doctor on the day of the first concert  in Burlington, and he diagnosed me with Walking Pneumonia!  Ha, I KNEW it was more than just a bad cold! I was glad just to know that at some point there would be an end to it all. Thank heavens for antibiotics.

Chris had flight complications getting into Burlington that evening and so we didn't actually get on stage until TWO HOURS after we were supposed to begin. Amazingly, nearly everyone in the audience waited for us.
Getting through the first show was a challenge for all of us, to say the least, and I'm a little scared of anyone who gets a bootleg of that show without knowing the setbacks we were facing going into it, but, what can you do.

Oh my goodness....  So, a week later, I'm feeling much better, Chris' doctor check-up showed that his vocal cords are healing and he's sounding great...we're feeling much better about things.
Today was the first day I woke up, craving coffee and inspired to walk around town and remember little details from the familiar shops and streets I recognize from our last visit here.

Sorry, I've not written in a while. We just started a Myspace page, so I've been trying to log little tails from the road on both sites.  Please check out that page too if you're feeling it!
