April 23, 2005 Hellos. Tonight was our first Proper show, I believe, since the end of October. Before heading out on this relatively short tour at 1:30AM this morning we spent five days in Nashville rehearsing, working on the packaging of the new record and very much enjoying the chance to hang out with friends who either live in Nashville or happened to be spending a day or two in town for one reason or an other. The weather was beautiful there - which only added to the good hang. It's hard to beat summer nights isn't it? ...Don't need to bring along any extra layers when you go out at night. Restaurants open up their porches. You can drive with the windows down and breathe in the warm air, thick with both a moderate amount of humidity and the smell of fresh, green, new growth on the trees. I'm a really really bad skateboarder. It's sort of embarrassing for me because skating is such a common skill in San Diego, but I've just never put in the time to get comfortable on one. There are two boards along with us on this tour, so maybe I'll get to practice a little on some empty street...I really should get some wrist guards. Oh yeah - the record is completed, mixed and mastered! It will be called Why Should The Fire Die and the release date is August 9th. Horrah! |
