A friend of mine told me that in every e-mail, I make a comment on the weather. And since then I've noticed that I do always have something to say on what its like outside. But this last week, everyone has been talking about the weather, because it just won't stop raining.

Another friend, who is irish, went on a rant the other day, saying "I didn't come to Southern California for all this wet."

Yesterday in Carlsbad, some local bands along with Tom Giblins' pub put a benefit together for children who had been orphaned by the Tsunami. It was setup outside in the parking lot and when the drizzle again turned to rain, it poured. The brunt of the gusts came during Flogging Mollie's set, but, I guess it was the pub owners who pulled out some tarps and huge sheets of plastic, and everyone held them over their heads.

There was a real roof over the back half of the stage, and a long tarp over the front half, and between them fell a curtain of water, just in front of the drummer. A squad of 4 or 5 kids in oversized volunteer shirts manned the buckets and, when they were full, handed them off to a couple guys standing next to the stage who'd dump them out and hand them right back.

There was not a soul there who wasn't soaked to the bone but it was really fun to be there with friends and meet fellow north county-ers, for the benefit.
It was a hugely positive day.
