We had today off and spent it in Asheville, NC. Like Northampton, where I wrote the last journal entry, we've gotten to know our way around this town pretty well, but I still used the Disneyland style map from the hotel's front desk. My sense of direction has been squirrelly lately.

We've been staying up really late at night after shows and I've been sleeping through the first half of nearly every day. But when I woke up this morning, instead of dozing my way straight through to the other side of it, I got my lazy butt out of bed and ventured off to regain my bearings in Asheville, and didn't return until after dinner.

It was quality solo Sara time. Something I used to reserve on a daily basis but, unfortunately, had for some reason weaned myself off since last fall's tour. Today was lovely and warm.

Last night we played a really dark and dirty venue in Charlotte, NC called the ------------. What an attentive crowd. We've been incredibly spoiled by our audiences who listen and respond so dynamically. David Berkeley has opened for us and Howie Day since the beginning of the tour, and the last couple nights he was really impressed with the crowd. So thank you all for being so darn fun to play for.

I caught a frog after the show last night. He hopped out of a rock pile I was walking on, so I awkwardly pounced around after him, cupping the ground with both my hands wherever I landed - one step behind - until I finally caught up with the little guy.

He peed on me. I keep examining my right hand for any botches or bumps...don't know exactly the maturation period on frog related protuberants, but I don't think I'm necessarily in the clear just yet!
