John Paul Jones Produces Sara's New Album |
|
John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Sara Watkins teamed up to record Sara's debut album, which is set to release April 7, 2009. This unlikely-sounding pairing is actually less improbable than it sounds. Jones, bass player with Led Zeppelin and a mandolin enthusiast, participated in the Mutual Admiration Society tour with Nickel Creek and Glen Phillips in 2004. Friendships were formed, and when Sara asked if Jones would produce her new project, he agreed. More than that, he also plays bass on several tracks.
The new project is an exciting one as Sara steps out with a mix of self-penned songs and covers, and in addition to Jones, pulls in other guests including Gillian Welch and David Rawlings and her brother (and former band-mate in Nickel Creek) Sean Watkins.
